The year 2021 arrived, necessary changes continue to happen in due course, and we are emerging from the crush of the pandemic with every progressive action taken. I continue to be grateful for the incredible group of professionals volunteering in leadership this year: our 2021 Southwest Region Board, Local Steering Committee leadership in Austin, Baton Rouge/New Orleans, Dallas, Denver, Houston, and Phoenix, and our many volunteers across the LMA organization. We continue to execute on our Region’s why every day:

Our Why - LMA Southwest Region Board & Local Steering Committees
To ensure that every single member is connected to a community that is invested in their success and development; To promote our members’ confidence by providing valuable educational programs, tools and knowledge sharing opportunities; To elevate the profession.

Together, we have remained agile and reimagined programs and services this year, in an effort to ensure quality member value in another year that has continued to require flexibility, empathy, grit and grace from us:

  • Our six Local Steering Committees joined forces to produce monthly educational programming via our new virtual Lunch & Learn program series. This has been a wild success – and we close out the series on June 23. Watch your inbox for details about the series finale.
  • We launched our 2021 LMANext Program in February with 15 proteges and 15 mentors. Many thanks to our program partner Holly Barocio with GrowthPlay.
  • LMA launched a new website and a reimagined Strategies + !
  • Our Regional Conference is just days away! https://pheedloop.com/lmasw21/site/home/

As we approach the middle of the year, we head into nominations season. I encourage all LMA members to consider what LMA can do for you as you think on your personal goals and your professional development milestones. You truly get out of it what you put into it. We will be seating four positions for the 2021 Southwest Region Board: President-Elect, Treasurer-Elect, and two Director-at-Large positions traditionally focused on Programming and Advocacy.

Speaking of the Southwest Region Board, it is my honor to announce that the board unanimously approved the recommendation of Cecilia Linton to the position of 2021 President/2022 Immediate Past-President. Cecilia is Senior Director of Marketing and Operations at Society 54, LLC. She has held a number of leadership positions in LMA including serving as the last President of the LMA Texas Chapter, Texas Chapter Treasurer, Member-at-Large, and Austin Local Group Leader. Welcome Cecilia!

I’m excited to be an active part of LMA leadership again and I want to thank those of you what have reached out with a warm welcome. I know I’m jumping in while the car is already driving, so I will do my best to catch up and keep us moving in the fantastic direction that the current Board is already headed. I have had the opportunity to attend a few meetings and am really impressed with how things have evolved since I was last part of the Board. I’m looking forward to the second half of the year.
