How did you get started in legal marketing?
I have worked in professional services firms since I was 15. Throughout my undergraduate program at Cal State East Bay, I worked at a small law firm based in Castro Valley, where I met a secretary who also worked part-time at Nixon Peabody. Her introduction for me into that firm led me down the career path I've been on ever since. It may be crazy to think how one person can change the trajectory of your life.

What is your favorite part of your job?
Though my roles and responsibilities (and firms) have shifted, I have enjoyed that every day is never the same. I very much enjoy helping people and feel that with so much ongoing change in professional services, there is always an opportunity to make a difference and continue to learn and grow. Most importantly, the relationships that I've made and continue to make are worth their weight in gold. My community is everything to me.

What is a challenge you have been able to overcome in your career/current job/legal marketing?
Bad leadership and toxic work cultures can be suffocating - they are not fun to go through while you are in them, however, I am grateful for these experiences because they give you the opportunity to become a better leader and manager. If you are experiencing something like this, know that it is not your fault and lean into your connections. This community will help you find a place where you can shine. I feel very lucky to have landed at a firm (Armanino) that is incredibly supportive of my personal growth with excellent leadership/mentorship and am excited to be on a new path, where I can partner with my legal marketing friends and colleagues.

Tell us one thing people do not know about you.
I am currently working outside of the law firm space at accounting/consulting firm Armanino. In my free time, I am either skiing or running (depending on the season) or watching my kids play sports. I love to do something active every day if I can - especially if it's outdoors. Even 30 minutes can change your day. My stretch goal is that I am currently working towards the goal of running 40 half marathons by my 40th birthday (6 to go!)

Share something you have found to be interesting or special in the last year.
Though the last year has had its challenges, I am so grateful to have been able to have had more time with my kids and husband. Nothing is more precious to me than time with my family and friends. I also restarted some long time craft projects - including quilting - I finished one for my son and am currently trying to finish my daughter's quilt.
