Conrad Saam, President and Founder, Mockingbird Marketing

After leading marketing efforts for Avvo, Conrad Saam founded Mockingbird, an online marketing agency focused exclusively on legal. Called the “Gary V of Legal”, Conrad is the author of Own the Map published by the American Bar Association and The FindLaw Jailbreak Guide, a Google Small Business Advisor and held positions for various ABA’s Practice Management marketing committees. 

A semi-professional bridge arsonist, Conrad enjoys publishing Cease and Desist letters from unscrupulous legal marketing vendors. He once bought the keyword, “mesothelioma lawyer” for $4.76. 

Conrad is the proud owner of Zippy, the first and only chicken to be awarded the Lawyers of Distinction Top 10% Award, which recognizes lawyers duped into buying a $700 annual subscription to a plaque.


John Reed, Esq., Founder and Chief Relationship Officer, Rain BDM
John Reed is the founder of Rain BDM, a consultancy that helps lawyers build outstanding client relationships. He and his team train provide law firms with needed marketing services and support, from one-time projects to outsource marketing department engagements.

A former practicing lawyer, John knows the challenges confronting the profession and the changing legal landscape. Differentiation and standing out in the marketplace have never been more important. John coaches attorneys in business development and assists firms with branding and positioning, content writing, blog and social media management, strategic planning, corporate social responsibility initiatives, and other marketing needs.

John is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the chair of the Legal Marketing Association’s Michigan chapter, a certified Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® practitioner, and a member of the board of trustees for Leader Dogs for the Blind.


Ryan Unsworth, Social Media Manager, Sidley Austin LLP
Ryan Unsworth serves as the Social Media Manager at Sidley Austin LLP, and has held a social media-focused role at the firm since 2015. Ryan is responsible for the firm’s overall social media strategy and enjoys building and implementing creative communications plans that strengthen brand perception, drive engagement, and promote the firm’s culture.

In addition to executing the firm’s social media strategy, Ryan has developed a robust social media-focused training program attended by over 500 lawyers and professional staff to-date. These programs focus on building your personal brand, utilizing effective messaging, and strengthening networks. 

When he’s not working from his virtual office, Ryan can be found running along Chicago’s lakefront, hanging out with his 5-year old nephew, and doom-scrolling through real estate listings.
