President’s Message

By Terra Liddell
LMA Mid-Atlantic Region President
Chief Marketing Officer at Finnegan

Happy Summer, LMA Mid-Atlantic!

When our Communications Committee came to me with the theme for this quarter—Stretching Beyond: Strategies to Reach Clients—my first thought, honestly, was my true-life attempt at getting back into yoga recently. Then I quickly shuffled my mindset to what it is really about: everything we all do in our jobs to stay in front of and engaged with clients. But honestly, that is not far off from my, very limited, yoga practice.

Reach: Do you remember PE in grade school and the sit-and-reach test? That is me in yoga. Each and every movement is a reach for me. But that is what we need to channel outreach to our clients. In this issue, we introduce tips around helping attorneys make the reach to connect with their clients—through media and otherwise.

Resonate: To resonate means to produce or be filled with a deep, full, reverberating sound. I, generally speaking, resonate quite a bit during any yoga or stretching. Most of it is deep breathing that can resonate in one’s ears quite loudly! Resonate also means to strike a chord. In this issue, we explore what tactics will help pitches resonate with our clients and prospects. What can you do to strike a chord and leave them filled with the reverberating sound of your firm?

Relationships: Finally, for me, yoga and the stretching I do in yoga has boiled down to relationships. I was terrified of yoga for the longest time. I found a class that offered me the relationships I was looking for in my physical, mental, and emotional practice, and helped guide me into yoga and personally stretch beyond. In this issue of the newsletter, we frequently reference relationships: media relationships, client relationships, how to go all-in on the experience of a relationship with a client, and some of the relationships you might know here within our region, LMA Mid-Atlantic.

I hope that you have the opportunity to stretch beyond with me in this issue, and I will continue to end with thanking each of YOU for actively supporting the Mid-Atlantic Region.

Our community is the key to our success—your talents, your experience, your ideas—please share these skills through volunteering! We will be a better region for all of us stretching beyond. Thank you for actively supporting the Mid-Atlantic Region, across the Baltimore, Capital, and Virginias local groups.
