Spring has officially sprung, legal marketers! I don’t know about you, but I have been very much looking forward to the warmer weather and sunshine, and all that it brings, like being together in person with our LMA community and friends. We have braved the winter (which, let’s be honest, was pretty mild this year!), and I can’t wait for the region’s first in-person social hosted by the Capital LSC on April 13.
But before we get too carried away by spring bliss, I wanted to reflect on what we’ve already accomplished together this year. Thank you to our community for smashing attendance records for our January and March virtual education programs, which together saw more than 150 attendees. We truly hope that you found practical takeaways from both programs, and we look forward to delivering virtual educational programming throughout the remainder of the year.
In the more immediate future, I am looking forward to getting together with 1,000 of our closest friends and peers at the LMA Annual Conference this spring. The agenda is stellar, and it’s not too late to register. I hope to see you there, and stay tuned for details on the Mid-Atlantic Regional meetup during the conference. I always treasure the memories made at the annual conference, whether that’s karaoke night with LMA pals or being completely mesmerized by the keynote session (think, last year’s contortionist in Las Vegas teaching us to “stretch beyond”—mind blowing!).
Later this year, we look forward to hosting our Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference. We are nearly settled on a date, and we can’t wait to share it with you. This will also be the first year where we offer a scholarship to the regional conference, where one Mid-Atlantic Region member applicant will be selected to attend on a complimentary basis, including travel costs. More details to come soon on the conference itself and the scholarship application process!
As we come out of winter hibernation, I challenge you to find a new hobby—or grow into a current hobby—that truly allows you to unplug from work. I have recently found scuba diving to be a haven for me where I can escape the fast-paced demands of the law firm. I submerge myself in water for approximately an hour and look at beautiful scenery and animals, and that puts my mind at ease. Not once do I think about my email while I’m down there. It has been such a rewarding experience and helps me to be a better colleague. What does that for you? More than anything, I hope you have the opportunity to relax with friends and family, and sometimes just do nothing alone (for us introverts, this is key!) in the coming months.
