What areas do you focus on in your role as a legal marketer? Why are you passionate about your profession?
I focus on creating opportunities for our attorneys to connect with clients through educational programming, client events, strategic marketing initiatives, sponsorships, and relationship development. I love that every day is different - whether I'm planning a seminar, developing a client experience, or collaborating with attorneys to showcase their knowledge. The most rewarding part of my job is turning ideas into meaningful experiences that strengthen relationships and create lasting connections.
What’s something about your job that might surprise people?
People are often surprised by how much strategy goes into legal marketing. It's far more than planning events or creating invitations. Every program, sponsorship, client dinner, or seminar is designed with a business objective in mind.
What’s the greatest personal or professional obstacle you’ve had to overcome, and how did you do it?
One of the biggest lessons I've learned professionally has been gaining confidence early in my career. Working alongside incredibly accomplished attorneys can feel intimidating at first, but I realized that everyone brings different strengths to the table. I've learned to trust my expertise, speak up with ideas, and recognize that thoughtful strategy and creativity add real value to a firm's success.
What are your best productivity hacks?
Time blocking my calendar.
Tackling my most important project first thing in the morning.
Keeping detailed running task lists.
Breaking large projects into smaller milestones.
What is your favorite phone app for work/professional use? What about for fun/personal use?
For work, my most-used apps are definitely my Calendar and Notes apps. Between managing events, deadlines, and multiple projects, my calendar keeps everything on track, while my notes app is where I capture ideas, to-do lists, and those random moments of inspiration that pop up throughout the day.
For fun, it's Pinterest. I’m always looking for outfit inspiration, home décor ideas, workout motivation, travel inspiration, or creative event concepts.
What’s a leadership skill you’ve learned the hard way?
I've learned that clear communication is one of the most important leadership skills, and that overcommunicating is usually better than undercommunicating. People can't meet expectations they don't understand, so I've become much more intentional about providing context, setting priorities, and following up.
You’re taking me out to a business lunch in your city. Where are we going and what do you recommend I order?
If you're visiting New Orleans, I'm taking you to Galatoire's for a Friday lunch. It's a New Orleans tradition: lively, iconic, and the perfect place to experience the city's food and culture. We'd start with soufflé potatoes, fried eggplant, and the Galatoire Goute, followed by the trout amandine (the secret is to add jumbo lump crabmeat on top).
Can you name someone who has had a great impact on you as a leader, or someone who has been a mentor to you in your life or career? How have they changed your outlook?
I've been incredibly fortunate to work for a manager who has believed in me, challenged me to think strategically, and trusted me with opportunities beyond my original role. Over the past five and a half years, that trust has allowed my role to grow in ways I never expected. I'm also grateful to work alongside so many talented attorneys and professionals whose expertise and dedication inspire me every day. Together, these experiences have taught me that the best leaders invest in people, empower them to grow, and give them the confidence to succeed before they think they're ready. That's a lesson I'll carry with me throughout my career.
