Meet Dr. Lauren McNee Doherty! Lauren is the Marketing Manager at Pritzker Hageman in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Treasurer-Elect of the Midwest Regional Board. Lauren shares more about why she enjoys volunteering for LMA, her background as a professional musician, and the historical significance of her firm's office space.

Tell us your story - where do you work and what do you do?

I'm the Marketing Manager at Pritzker Hageman where I help attorneys fight for the rights of injured people. We're a small firm that achieves big results in cases nationwide. We have obtained groundbreaking recoveries in complex areas of personal injury law including burn injuries, food poisoning, and commercial truck accidents.

What is your volunteer role (past and/or present) with LMA?

I currently serve as Treasurer-Elect of the LMA Midwest Regional Board. I first became involved with LMA when I entered the legal marketing industry in 2018. I joined the Minnesota Leadership Steering Committee as a volunteer with the Membership Committee before working my way up the leadership ladder to become Membership Director, Vice-Chair, and Chair. I have also served as an editorial board member with Strategies & Voices.

What do you enjoy about being an LMA volunteer?

My favorite part about being an LMA member is belonging to our tight-knit community. LMA is a place that makes me feel like I'm always welcome and accepted. As a volunteer, I get to connect with fellow members and help drive changes within the organization that impact our collective needs.

What are your hobbies?

As a native Minnesotan, I love embracing outdoor activities all year long. I enjoy getting outside and being active whether it's paddle boarding and golfing during the summer or cross-country skiing and ice skating in the winter. My husband Andrew and I plan "Date Day" every Saturday where we take turns planning fun seasonal dates for each other.

I'm also a professional flutist and enjoy performing and teaching as a side hustle. I started my career in the music industry and hold three degrees in flute performance including my doctorate. My proudest accomplishments as a musician include performing with the rock band Jethro Tull and recording a Grammy-nominated opera.

What's the best vacation you've ever been on?

I will have to say our honeymoon to the South of France and Northern Italy - it was the trip of a lifetime! We flew into Nice where we did a rosé wine tour through the Provençal countryside and made custom scents at a parfumerie. Then we took the train to Milan and Lake Como (which is the most beautiful place I've ever seen in my entire life!) After Italy, we spent a few nights in Monte Carlo and ended the trip in Cannes during the Cannes Film Festival.

What travel spot is on your bucket list?

Maldives is the next stop on my bucket list! I would love to see it before global warming makes it disappear.

If you could time travel, where's the first place you would go?

I would travel to Sweden in the early 1900s to visit my ancestors. My great-grandma Esther was known as the "Queen of the Island" in the province of Ångermanland. She used to sneak out her window to go dancing so I would love to travel to that time and dance the night away with her!

Tell us something unique about your law firm or business.

I'm very proud to work at Pritzker Hageman. Not only do we fight for meaningful changes in the civil justice system, but we also have a positive firm culture and a cool office space! In January 2023, we moved our offices from a downtown high-rise to a historic building called the Pillsbury Library in the Old Town neighborhood, which is known as the birthplace of Minneapolis. To honor our building's history, we started a Little Free Library to bring the joy of reading back to our local community.

What's the best career advice that someone has ever given you?

  1. Our firm's late founder Fred Pritzker used to say, "What are you doing today to get new clients?" I have that phrase framed on my desk!

  2. LMA International President Roy Sexton recently circulated an article about "noble-purpose leadership" in the Harvard Business Review and it's definitely worth a read!
