Tell us your story - Where do you work and what do you do?

My team and I serve Vedder Price, a business-focused law firm with a global reach and a proud tradition of maintaining long-term client relationships.

Specifically, we serve the firm's rainmakers and aspiring rainmakers in Chicago, Dallas, London, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, San Francisco, Singapore, and Washington DC with exclusive business development insights and coaching.

What does Black History Month mean to you?

Personally, Black History Month to me is about all of us putting on our superman/superwoman cape, or at the very least, ironing out any wrinkles in the cape.  C.A.P.E. - Contribution. Appreciation. Progress. Excellence.

How are you planning on celebrating the month?

By practicing gratitude personally and professionally.

What is your favorite cultural tradition?

The holiday spirit from Thanksgiving to Christmas is legendary.

If you could go back and speak to your younger self, what would you say?

Remember that fortune favors the brave, and gratitude is undefeated.

What are your hobbies?

Reading; Scrabble; and Hand-washing the dishes in my kitchen.

What was the best vacation you've ever been on?

That feeling of accomplishment that you get after an important presentation goes really well always feels like the best vacation ever.

St. Lucia, Cape Town, and London are part of a three-way tie for second place on my best vacations list.

What's your favorite movie?

The Godfather 2.  The movie is underrated as a case study in the art and science of negotiations.

Pick one word to describe your "why." What motivates you in your career and personal life?

Compliments.

Scientists have found that being paid a compliment actually lights up the same parts of your brain that get activated when you get paid a monetary award.

How has LMA helped you accomplish your career goals?

One of the best articles that I have ever read in my career was in the LMA Strategies magazine (March/April 2020). The article was titled, Myers-Briggs: By the Numbers - Personality Types Through the Lens of Law Firms.  I continue to draw insights and inspiration from that article. Thanks a million, LMA.
