  • DEADLINE APPROACHING: LMA - Minnesota Chapter 2010 Call for Speakers

This message has been cross posted to the following eGroups: Minnesota Chapter and Industry Announcements .
    -------------------------------------------
The Legal Marketing Association – Minnesota Chapter is accepting proposals from experts seeking the opportunity to present to our members during the 2010 program year (April 2010 – March 2011, excluding June and January.) The programming committee will accept proposals through November 20, 2009.

Our monthly programs consistently attract a wide range of law firm professionals, including marketing coordinators, business development managers, marketing directors and CMOs, as well as other professional services marketers. Members come from law firms of all sizes with headquarters or offices in Minnesota. LMA-MN's membership also includes attorneys, marketing consultants, vendors and media representatives.

Our chapter is committed to bringing innovative programming to the legal marketing community in Minnesota. We create opportunities for dynamic speakers to showcase their expertise and diverse perspectives. In order to encourage new voices, preference will be given to speakers who have not presented to our chapter during the past two years and especially to those who present on a new topic or novel perspective on a past topic. Sample topics from the previous years include:

    • Strategic Account Management: Why Client Teams Aren't Enough
    • Secrets of CRM Success: How to Minimize Mistakes and Maximize Results
    • Business Development Through Targeted, One-To-One Communications With Your Client
    • Insights Into Yourself and Others
    • Beyond Competitive Intelligence: Law Firm Marketing in the Market Crisis
    • Business Development: Networking That Actually Works
    • What Keeps Managing Partners Awake at Night and What Marketers Can Do to Help Them Get Some Sleep
    • Sitting on a Gold Mine: Promoting the Art of Cross-Selling Clients in Your Firm
Our members want ideas and tools they can use immediately.

The ideal program will include practical advice, tips, shortcuts and "real world" examples. In addition, ideal programs will include "value-added" reference takeaways such as checklists, outlines, presentations and articles or lists of suggested further reading that support the presentation and can help attendees implement the concepts presented.

    Proposal Elements

    1. Basic information - Include complete contact information: name, title, firm/company, phone number and e-mail address
    2. Brief program description - Along with a suggested title, please provide a brief summary of your program (200 words). Describe why the program will be of interest to our members and what attendees can expect to take away from the session.
    3. Details - To what level of marketing professional is your program targeted (i.e. entry- or mid-level, senior/experienced)? How will you present the information (PowerPoint, multimedia, panel discussion)? If your program includes a panel discussion, who would you recommend as panelists and a moderator and why?
    4. Background Information - Include a brief resume or biographical sketch for all of the proposed presenters, along with contact information.

    Fees and Expenses

LMA-MN is a member-sponsored organization. As such, we do not offer honorariums or speaker fees. LMA-MN will reimburse speakers for transportation expenses only to include direct coach airfare, ground transportation and lodging expenses (subject to pre-approval.) There is a cap on travel reimbursements so please contact the LMA-MN Programming Chair for the monetary allowances and for hotel recommendations.
    Deadline and Submission Instructions

Please email your proposal (Word document or PDF format) to Stacey McGuire, 2009 Programming Chair, LMA – Minnesota Chapter at stacey.mcguire@gpmlaw.com. Please include the words "Response to 2010 RFP" in the subject line of your email and indicate in the body of the email whether or not you are open to presenting as part of a panel or as a copresenter with someone from a different organization. The deadline for proposal submissions is Friday, November 20, 2009.

Please note: If you are not selected for a monthly program, you may be considered for the 2010 Midwest Regional Conference. However, a separate Call for Speakers will go out for the conference and we recommend that you resubmit at that time.
