What motivates you at work every day?
The marketing geek in me gets great satisfaction from seeing new business that can be attributed to my marketing/PR efforts. I work with a great team who I never want to let down, and I’m also motivated by my own personal compulsion to be really good at whatever I do.
How did you end up in Legal marketing?
I’ve always been a creative person – art, writing, design, problem solving, etc. After college I started doing marketing for a publishing company, and then got the opportunity to work in a marketing role for Jim Sokolove. After a few years with Jim I was recruited by a Big 6 accounting firm, and last year I finally came back to legal marketing at Burns & Levinson. I truly feel like I am where I belong, and that my current role was made for me.
What was your first paying job?
Umpiring girls’ softball games in my hometown, Holden, Massachusetts, and lots of babysitting.
If you were to take a sabbatical, what would you do with your time?
Travel! After college I packed up my car and drove across the country with my favorite cousin to live in San Diego. Some of the most amazing experiences of my life happened as we stopped to and from San Diego in the most random places and saw how the rest of the country lives. I’d love to really take my time driving across country again, and also expand my travels abroad… especially to Europe and the Seychelle Islands.
What is your favorite book and why?
Really can’t pick just one. I love series and compilations of short stories – weird ones, especially when told in the first person so I can really get in the mind of the narrator. Recently finished Steven King’s “Full Dark, No Stars” – definitely weird.
Do you have any pet peeves?
Bad manners, complaining about something you can change, people who are rude to wait staff/customer service reps… the list goes on…
What is your favorite thing to do on a Saturday morning?
Sleep as much as possible, have breakfast out on the deck, and then go to the golf course with my husband and parents or friends.
If you had a super hero power, what would it be?
Telepathy
What is your favorite saying?
“We can do it!”
