The Metropolitan New York Chapter of the Legal Marketing Association (NYLMA) honored four individual members and two committees with its 5th annual Metropolitan New York LMA Awards for service to the chapter and the legal marketing profession. The Awards were presented at the New York chapter’s annual Kickoff Event held at Hunton & Williams LLP on February 29.

“So many of our members volunteer their time and expertise to make our chapter a very special professional experience for their colleagues,” said Melissa Seitter, chapter president. “It is an honor for us to recognize these outstanding individuals with these special awards for their rewarding efforts.”

This year’s winners of the 5th Annual Metropolitan New York LMA Awards, with excerpts from their presentations, are:

Member of the Year: Tom Mariam (Curtis Mallet-Prevost Colt & Mosle LLP). The chapter’s top honor, for outstanding contributions by an individual member, is given to Tom Mariam. “As many of you will agree, this member continues to push our Chapter forward. His drive, dedication, and commitment to our Chapter is felt by everyone that he communicates with.”

Committee of the Year: Programming Committee – co-chaired by Todd Drucker (JAMS, Inc.) and Laura Miller (Cooley LLP). “In 2015, this committee had almost 1000 attendees to their monthly programs, including several sold out luncheons. A record breaker on the Chapter and National levels...”

Special Interest Group (SIG) of the Year: CMO SIG – co-chaired by Despina Kartson (Morgan Lewis) and Dawn Gertz Longfield (Davis & Gilbert). “This SIG continues to provide an amazing slate of events. They develop excellent topics and secure tremendous speakers that keep their members informed of what’s next in the industry.”

Future Leader of the Year: Rosa Colon (Vuture) - for outstanding contributions by a junior member likely to hold a future leadership position in the chapter. “This person is not only a future leader within her role as a member of the chapter but she is also the co-chair of our Future Leader SIG.”

Thought Leader of the Year: Tim Corcoran (Corcoran Consulting Group) - for outstanding contributor to the chapter and industry. “This year’s recipient continues to educate our Chapter on the importance of business process improvement, legal project management, law firm financials and business development.”

Susan Benjamin Legacy Award: Dawn Gertz Longfield (Davis & Gilbert) - for a longstanding contributor who has left a distinguishable mark on the chapter. “Our recipient has demonstrated leadership in creating and curating relevant and valuable content and programs on the National and Chapter Level while inspiring members on all levels to get involved in the Chapter through leading by example.”
