2017 LMA Eastern Canada Regional Board of Directors
By now many of you will have read about the Legal Marketing Association's governance restructure. This means that an Eastern Canada LMA Regional Governing Board will be established this year; we feel strongly that this new regional board needs representation from Atlantic Canada, Quebec and Ontario.
Why Should You Care?
The LMA remains the only professional association for legal marketers across North America. Both the Toronto and Vancouver Chapters have been hugely successful since their establishment and we are aware of informal legal marketing city groups across the country. This indicates a strong appetite among legal marketers to connect and network with each other, share learning opportunities, and collectively raise the status of our roles in the Canadian legal market.
It is imperative that we successfully transition our governance model to ensure a continued forum for legal marketers across Canada.
Being involved in the LMA’s Canadian governance structure allows you to do all of those things listed above AND provides meaningful opportunities to grow your skills (and your CV) as a leader and strategic thinker.

On behalf of the 2016 LMA Toronto Chapter Board of Directors, we invite you to nominate yourself or candidates of your choice, for the following Regional Governing Board positions available in 2017:
- Immediate Past President (1 year commitment: Open to persons who have previously served as Chapter President in 2015 or before)
- President (2 year commitment: President in 2017, Immediate Past President in 2018)
- President-elect (3 year commitment: President-Elect in 2017, President in 2018, Immediate Past President in 2019)
- Secretary (2 year commitment)
- Treasurer (1 year commitment)
- Treasurer-elect (2 year commitment: Treasurer-Elect in 2017, Treasurer in 2018)
- Five Directors (2 year commitment, except in 2017, two of the five will serve one-year terms)
Please note that for this transition year, Regional Governing Board positions will begin service on September 1, 2016, so each term will include an additional four months (that is, a “1 year commitment” as listed below will actually be 1 year and 4 months).
