President's Message: Back to School - Sara J. Miller

As a child, I loved the first day of school! New classes, new teachers, opportunities to meet new people and participate in a variety of clubs and other extracurricular activities. The coming of September each year always evokes the same buzz of excitement and sense of beginning for me - everyone is back from vacation and the fall conference season is upon us.

On September 16th, the Capital Chapter will hold our 3rd annual half-day program. This year's theme, "A New Perspective:  Looking at Legal Marketing with a Critical Eye" will focus on an analysis and dissection of the state of legal marketing. We will feature two panels. First, a panel of senior, in-house legal marketing professionals who have come from outside the legal industry will give a candid assessment of their experience thus far in legal marketing. Next, a panel of former in-house lawyers who have returned to private practice will share their insights on what works and doesn't when it comes to marketing to general counsel and law departments. Intended for all levels of legal marketing, practicing lawyers, consulting and industry experts, our half-day program is focused on delivering key insights and messages you can put into practice the moment you return to your desk. This is an event you will not want to miss!

As a special incentive, we are offering a discounted group registration. If your firm or company registers 3 or more people for the program, we will offer the member rate for all who register, even if they are a non-member. Additional details will be circulated soon!

Also, in this edition of our newsletter, check out how your fellow LMA members have been spending their summer. From vacations to special projects to their favorite beach reading material and highlights from our Summer Social at Cuba Libre.

I hope you take the time to enjoy the last few dog days of summer before "going back to school" in September!
