As the law firm business model changes, how law firms define success must change. Law firm leaders must embrace new metrics and performance indicators, migrating away from billable hours and incorporating profit and client satisfaction. As clients pursue more performance-based and value billing, partner compensation will incorporate rewards for activities that benefit the long-term health of the firm. In this interactive discussion, we will demonstrate and illustrate these changes, and tie it back to what legal marketers can do to effect change.
Timothy B. Corcoran, founder of the Corcoran Consulting Group, advises law firm leaders and in-house counsel on market strategy, project management, process improvement, alternative fees, compensation redesign, and business development. The essence of his consulting practice is to help law firms, in-house counsel and legal vendors profit in a changing marketplace. Tim served as the 2014 President of the Legal Marketing Association, is a Fellow in the College of Law Practice Management, and authors the popular Corcoran's Business of Law blog.
