Executive Director
Sugarman, Rogers, Barshak & Cohen

How did you get into Legal Marketing?
After a short teaching career and a number of years at home with three sons, I started at Sugarman, Rogers, Barshak & Cohen as a litigation paralegal.  I loved learning about the law but eventually knew it was time for more challenges and started looking into MBA programs.  At the same time, the firm decided to create the first Marketing Director position. The rest is history and eventually, I moved into my current position as Executive Director.  I love working with attorneys and management on various initiatives.  At the same time I oversee the marketing function with the help of an incredibly talented colleague.  It continues to be a dream job.

What do you enjoy most about your job?
I would have to answer – the people - and the feeling that I can make a contribution to the success of the firm.  I also love learning about the cases they handle since litigation encompasses so many different practice areas.  I feel like I learn something new every day.

What is one of your favorite pastimes?
Most people who know me would say travel and that is certainly at the top of my list but I also love to spend time outdoors gardening and, last but not least, is any time I get to spend with my seven grandchildren.  I am a very vocal fan at their football, basketball, soccer and track events and have been known to sit through many dance recitals.

Pick three words to describe yourself.
Happy, Type-A, a good listener.

What was your first paying job?
From an early age, I was the neighborhood babysitter and had a regular, well-paid Saturday night job until my own social life started to pick up!  My first professional job after college was teaching 6th, 7th and 8th grade social studies and English.

If you were to take a sabbatical, what would you do with your time?
That’s easy – rent a house in Italy for a couple of months and really learn the language.

If you had a super hero power, what would it be?
To remember dates.  I am especially bad at telling you when something happened in the past or how many years ago it occurred (the future I’m pretty good at with all the calendar functions available and a portable datebook.)

What actress would play you in a movie?
Several people have said that I remind them of Christine Baranski from “The Good Wife” and “Mama Mia” fame.

What is your favorite board game?
I’m not much of a board-game enthusiast and only get dragged in to play by my grandchildren so I guess I would say Checkers since Monopoly can go on forever!
