How did you get into Legal Marketing?
After practicing law for a couple years, I worked with law firms on training and development using Westlaw. After a while, I realized that more and more of the questions I was receiving from attorneys and librarians were related to business development initiatives. Because the area still seemed new (and exciting!), and creative ideas were emerging nearly every day, I jumped at the opportunity to grow my knowledge base and become a resource to folks who needed/wanted the help.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
It is dynamic! I get to travel from law firm to law firm talking to different people each day, all with amazing histories, experiences, ideas and backgrounds. As a result, I am constantly learning. Plus, I love the creativity allowed (and encouraged!) in business development and marketing. I really missed that when I was practicing.
What is one of your favorite pastimes?
Other than cuddling my 16 month old? In the winter, I love skiing. In the summer, hiking or fruit picking really make for the perfect day. Also, eating good food while drinking good wine is tough to beat. (Oops, just realized this asked for “one.” – Sorry!)

What was your first paying job?
Wow… up until now, this was a bit of a secret… Actually, my first job was as the “Hostess” for the McDonald’s breakfast bar (which was a thing for a very short time in the mid 90’s). (My second job was even worse – I worked at Santa’s Village!) Wait, does babysitting count? If so, we can put the above back in the vault and just use that. J
If you were to take a sabbatical, what would you do with your time?
I would spend as much time as possible with my family, ideally immersed in a completely foreign culture or somewhere where we could appreciate natural wonders.
If you had a super hero power, what would it be?
Keeping those I care about healthy and safe! (I’m such a worrier…)
