1. How did you start working in the legal industry?
I parlayed my experience in marketing and client relations at a hedge fund to marketing and business development at a law firm focused on shareholder litigation. In some ways the transition was very natural because the client base was similar: individual and institutional investors. However, I faced a significant learning curve early on in adapting to the nuances of marketing legal services.
2. What advice would you offer to someone new to the industry?
Join LMA! It is a great resource for meeting like-minded professionals, finding vendors, and sharing best practices.
3. Why did you join LMA and is it the same reason you are still a member?
I joined LMA to connect with other legal marketers in the Southern California area. It has been a great resource for the reasons I mention above in my answer to question number 2.
4. What would people be most surprised to learn about you?
I worked in Copenhagen for a few years and used to bike to work in the snow. It was common to do in Denmark – the Danes say there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes – and I enjoyed it.
5. What is your favorite thing to do when you are not at work?
I like to be outdoors. You can often find me outside reading, running, surfing, or in my veggie garden. I also try to see live music with friends or family when I can.
