Graphic Designer

Responsible for the graphic designs, production and layout of print and electronic collateral for the firm, including newsletters, advertisements, sponsorship ads, web pages, and department and practice group flyers. Manages all portrait photography firm-wide, and provides graphic and production support for the firm’s intranet, external websites, and PowerPoint and Flash media. Stays current on developing technology (hardware/software) that supports a visual communications workflow.

The hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 10:00 am to 6:00 p.m.

Provides advanced training and troubleshooting to the Visual Communications staff for various graphic hardware/software. Manages a wide range of projects that require fast turnaround.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Creates graphic designs, and selects and formats imagery for short term projects.
  • Provides design and layout support, and manages small- and medium-sized projects requiring original designs with minimal art direction and supervision.
  • Establishes and maintains ongoing relationships with attorneys, managers, directors and peers with minimal supervision. Maintains a database of profiles, production schedules, other technical requirements and personnel for all post production sources that support Visual Communications projects.
  • Identifies, proposes and leads initiatives that streamline repetitive project processes and ensure quality and consistency across all offices.
  • Manages digital portrait photography efforts across the firm, troubleshooting issues or managing vendor support as needed. Responsible for keeping imagery of firm leadership and offices up to date, making changes as situations dictate. Creates PowerPoint presentations utilizing advanced features/capabilities including web-ready graphics.

  • Stays current on existing, and researches developing, graphics/visual communication software and hardware.
  • Conducts art/image research for a wide range of print and electronic projects.
  • Works with other members of the department to contribute to team-oriented efforts.
  • Tracks all assigned projects in real time using project tracking software.
  • Collects, maximizes and maintains a database of current client logos.
  • Manages a wide range of smaller projects that require quick turnaround schedules (1-5 days).
  • Contributes to the firm’s overall initiative to consistently improve its image internally and externally. Displays professionalism, quality service and a “can do” attitude to internal members/departments of the firm as well as external clients and vendors via electronic and print correspondence, over the telephone and in-person.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.

Specific Requirements

Required Skills

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • 4+ years of graphic design and production experience.
  • Ability to multi-task and respond to tight deadlines in a team focused environment.
  • Ability to respond to and work with tight deadlines.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Knowledge of printing production is essential.

Education:

  • Degree and/or certification in production design or equivalent experience preferred.

Required Experience

  • Ability to provide a portfolio of representative work and knowledge required.    
  • Experience in the current versions of Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Lightroom, as well as PowerPoint, Acrobat, Flash, Excel, Word.
  • Studio portrait and table top photography, videography and Final Cut Pro are optional pluses.
