An Update on Chambers and Legal 500

By Aileen Hinsch posted 05-01-2014 10:55

In early March, I interviewed Lauren Hughes, editor of The Legal 500 U.S., and Laura Mills, editor of Chambers USA. For legal marketers who are new to rankings, it’s important to know some of the key distinctions between these two reputable publications.

  •  The Legal 500 U.S. focuses on practice groups as a whole and on a national scale
  • Chambers USA ranks both firms and attorneys by state and nationally

Both interviews were conducted with the goal of getting answers to frequently asked questions, as well as getting answers to some of the trickier questions that legal marketers face during the submission process. One question that I asked both editors, and received the same response to, was regarding how much other rankings play into theirs. The short answer was “none”. While your firm won’t be penalized for including this information, it’s not necessary to provide.

I hope you find these interviews helpful with your firm’s rankings efforts. Good luck!
