Fill This House: Helping young people aging out of foster care
Fill This House is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to help young people aging out of foster care by supplying them with all of the basic needs for transitioning to independent housing. Beginning in October, and continuing through the LMAO holiday social for Cleveland- and Akron/Canton-area members, the northeast Ohio community outreach team will collect donations at all chapter-sponsored programs.
LMAO members Mary Tomaro and David Bailey will accept donations through mid-December, or you can drop off donations at the Jones Day offices in Cleveland (901 Lakeside Ave., at the northeast corner Lakeside Avenue and E. 9th Street.). We also encourage everyone attending the Practice Development Institute on Oct. 21 to contribute to this worthy cause. Donations can include newly purchased items for the kitchen, batroom and bedroom as well as claening supplies and sundries.

Lend a hand during the Mid-Ohio Foodbank’s busy holiday season
Nov. 1 • 8:30am - 11:30am
Since 1980, the Mid-Ohio Foodbank and collaborated with grocers, food companies, Ohio farmers, the USDA and community partners to obtain food and distribute it to more than 550 food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, after-school programs and senior housing sites across central and eastern Ohio.
During the holiday season, requests for assistance are especially dire. We encourage you to take a few hours out of your Saturday to help the Mid-Ohio Foodbank in its efforts to provide meals to more than 120,000 people each and every day.
What to wear
Attire should be casual and comfortable - and be prepared to get dirty. Because warehouse climate can be tricky, layers are recommended. For safety purposes, we cannot allow volunteers to wear open toed shoes, sandals or loose jewelry/clothing. To learn more about this volunteering experience, watch the training video.
