Job Posting: Business Development Marketing Manager - Saul Ewing, LLP - Multiple Offices

Saul Ewing LLP a full-service law firm with 280 lawyers in 11 offices throughout the northeast, is currently seeking an experienced business development/marketing manager resident in one of the firm’s offices.  The business development/marketing manager reports directly to the firm’s Director of Business Development and directly supports the firm’s attorney practice leaders.  This position also indirectly reports to the firm’s chief marketing officer.

The ideal candidate will have 5 to 7 years of experience as a professional services marketer in either the legal, accounting, architecture or engineering industries and will have solid working knowledge and experience in managing marketing and business development activities in a partner-driven management structure.

Marketing management activities may include but will not be limited to:

  • Serve as primary marketing point person for select department and practice groups.
  • Research, writing and implementing structured, focused marketing plans that helps build awareness, brand recognition and lead generation for firm’s services and practice areas. 
  • Execute, track, measure and report on strategic marketing plans and budgets.
  • Coordinate practice group and individual lawyer new business targeting, including research, industry analysis, and individual coaching.
  • Draft and coordinate the writing of RFP responses, client presentation materials, and briefing background research.
  • Develop new projects consistent with group/individual lawyer goals and in consideration of the marketing teams’ bandwidth. 
  • Develop and manage budgets and timelines. 
  • Manage the development of promotion materials, collateral development; new business targeting list and follow up for marketing/business development projects.
  • Manage events including: seminars, webinars, roundtables, social event, and industry association sponsorships.

This position will participate in regular strategy meetings with department and practice group leaders and assist with other Marketing Department initiatives, including: development and maintenance of systems and processes to track, measure and report on results (ROI) of business development initiatives; proposals and RFI responses; industry and other general business research; knowledge management.

Essential Experience (special skills and experience, licenses, certifications, and education)

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related area;
  • Proven ability to write original copy based on a solid understanding of related issues;
  • Meticulous attention to detail;
  • Experience managing proposals and RFPs in a professional services environment;
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in the areas of business development, marketing, website and event marketing;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) is required.
  • Must be able to demonstrate prior experience working as a team player.
