The Future Leaders SIG hosted their second Brownbag Lunch event of 2014 “Meet the Board.” This event was designed so that members could have an opportunity to meet the LMA Board and learn how to become more involved in the LMA Capital Chapter. The key takeaways included:
- Get involved: The board members discussed what led them to their current leadership roles in the Chapter. All current board members initially joined a committee. Consequently, if you are looking to obtain a leadership role, involvement in committees is a great place to get started. Each of the committee chairs is looking for new members who are willing to step up and assist. In addition to leadership training, joining a committee is a great way to expand your network, learn new skills, and get exposure to the board. - Complete your LMA profile on the website: If you are an LMA member, you automatically have a profile posted onto the LMA website, and you should review the information listed and add a picture.
- LMA is what you make of it: You have many opportunities to get more involved with the LMA chapter, if that is your objective, or you can attend events that you find of interest. How involved you choose to be is up to you.
