The Firm is seeking Business Development Manager to work with the Health Practice Group, specifically focusing on Life Sciences and Healthcare. The Business Development Manager is primarily responsible developing, overseeing and executing marketing and business development programs. There is a focus on building market visibility and growing the existing business base for the Health Practice Group.
As a Business Development Manager, Life Sciences & Healthcare, you will:
- Manage, implement and directly influence key client facing programs such as events, webcasts and tailored CLE programs for key clients. Act as a liaison for client networking and relationship building. Effectively interact with marketing operations team for assistance in execution of marketing and business development strategies
- Create strategy and manage the development of content across all communications channels, including email campaigns, website, media, blogs, social media and internal channels
- Integrate technology in strategic marketing and business development plan of the assigned practice groups to be used to communicate to both clients and prospects (e.g. podcasts, video, etc.)
- Maintain current on industry trends related to assigned PG and work with the Firm’s media relations team to position McDermott as a key market leader in the industry. Utilize media as a complementary business development tool to win new business and place McDermott at the cutting edge of the legal environment
- Oversee and directly influence responses to proposals and pitches to position McDermott optimally to win new business from both existing and prospective clients.
- Develop a deep and broad understanding of the key client relationships and the practice area which includes products, attorneys and group expertise and experience, in order to recommend and champion efforts that may directly impact revenue growth and client service improvement
- Proactively identify and analyze new business opportunities and research existing client base to make recommendations on opportunities to cross-sell
- Lead and ensure the accuracy of current data, content, substantive matters and CRM data
- Collaborate with assigned Practice Group leader(s) to develop, implement and direct strategic marketing and business development plans, programs and budgets. Monitor, track, analyze and report on business development activity (such as ROI on key initiatives)
- Work with assigned PG leadership on lateral recruiting efforts by providing targeting candidate research and monitoring the competitive landscape. Play a key role in the marketing and business development integration efforts of new laterals and prepare Management reports
- Manage and mentor a marketing and business development team
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- MBA
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a professional services environment with a Marketing & Business Development role
- Life sciences and health industry knowledge/experience
- At least 3 years of experience with supervisory responsibilities
- Demonstrated experience in delivering client service excellence
- Exceptional project management skills
- Ability to juggle multiple large scale projects simultaneously
- Strong experience using Microsoft suite of products and other technology
- Ability to travel (25%)
