We sadly share that Ryan Michael Saba, 23, the eldest of Ellen Musante’s three sons, was killed in a tragic car accident on July 13, 2014, in Cambridge, Maryland. Ryan was a 2013 graduate of James Madison University. He worked as a marine biology researcher at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science’s Horn Point Lab, on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay, where he planned to attend graduate school. Ryan was an Eagle Scout, a PADI certified diver, and an avid sportsman and naturalist, who routinely volunteered for important causes.
Ryan’s family is working with Operation Starfish and Food For The Poor to fund a fishing boat in Ryan’s name, which will provide income to a needy ocean village fishing co-op in Honduras, near the coral reef where Ryan so loved to dive. Donation checks to Operation Starfish can be mailed to Church of the Nativity, 6400 Nativity Lane, Burke, Virginia 22015. Please note “Ryan Saba Memorial” in the memo. Donations online can be made here.
