Name: Ed Lyons
Company: All State Legal
Title: Field Sales Representative

- How did you get into legal marketing?
I was looking for a new challenge. A few of my friends were working in the legal industry and enjoyed it. So, when All State Legal called, I was excited and jumped at the opportunity.
- Describe one of your best experiences in legal marketing?
Out of many, one of my favorite experiences has been working with the local LMA Chapter. Not long after I began to work in Philadelphia, I was entrusted at the Chapter’s Treasurer. Earning the confidence of the Board Members was a truly gratifying experience.
- What is one of your greatest challenges when it comes to legal marketing?
My firm is an engraver and printer. In this digital age, the challenge is tell the story that print is alive and well. While a portion of a firm’s external and internal communication are now via the web or e-mail, the power of the printed (or engraved) word remains.
- Do you have any words of wisdom to those who are new to the field?
Absolutely! First, understand your clients’ needs and challenges. Take the time to learn about each firm – the history, practice groups, culture – and your chances of success increase. Second, get involved with a group like the LMA or the ALA. Both organizations will help you grow your knowledge about the industry.
- What is one thing that most people don’t know about you?
Since my accent is mostly faded, most people don’t know that I’m a native of New York City. I lived in the city as a little kid, grew up in the suburbs and attended high school in the city. Of course, this means I’m a diehard Yankees, Giants and Knicks fan. Hopefully, this won’t limit my client relationships too much!
