The Metropolitan New York Chapter of the Legal Marketing Association (NYLMA) honored four individual members and two committees with its 3rd annual Metropolitan New York LMA Awards for service to the chapter and the legal marketing profession.  The Awards were presented at the New York chapter’s recent annual Summer Soiree at the Rooftop Refinery in midtown Manhattan.

“So many of our members volunteer their time and expertise to make our chapter a very special professional experience for their colleagues,” said Kelly MacKinnon, chapter president.  “It is an honor for us to honor these outstanding individuals with these special awards for their rewarding efforts.”

This year’s winners of the 3rd Annual Metropolitan New York LMA Awards, with excerpts from their presentations, are:

Member of the Year: Andy Edelstein (Edelstein Communications). The chapter’s top honor, for outstanding contributions by an individual member, is given to Mr. Edelstein for his all-around efforts, especially as chair of the Program Committee, which continues to stage events that attract capacity crowds and generate industry buzz.

Committee of the Year: Sponsorship Committee – co-chaired by Lynn Telefsen (Cahill Gordon) and Paula Zirinsky (Morgan Lewis). “Over the last two years, the Sponsorship Committee has provided a dependable, stable base upon which the association can count on for sponsorship dollars.

Special Interest Group (SIG) of the Year: CMO SIG – co-chaired by Despina Kartson (Morgan Lewis) and Dawn Gertz Longfield (Davis & Gilbert).  “The Chief Marketing Officer SIG consistently demonstrates the ability to: pull in experts who really hit the mark in terms of the information needs of the CMO and senior marketers.

Future Leader of the Year: Matthew Loomis (Anderson Kill) - for outstanding contributions by a junior member likely to hold a future leadership position in the chapter. “Matt has the potential to become a true leader in his field.  He is already the leader of our Future Leaders SIG.”

Thought Leader of the Year: Lindsay Griffiths (International Lawyers Network) - for outstanding contributor to the chapter and industry through writing, speaking or other substantive contribution.  “Legal marketers and lawyers look to her blog and see Lindsay as a thought leader.”

Susan Benjamin Legacy Award: Despina Kartson (Morgan Lewis) - for a longstanding contributor who has left a distinguishable mark on the chapter. “Despina Kartson is beloved for many reasons - but it all boils down to her consistency and wise counsel and goodness.”
