Business Development Manager, Beveridge & Diamond, P.C.

1. How did you start working in the legal industry?

I learned about the legal marketing industry through my roommate at the time who was a marketing assistant at a law firm in Washington, DC. I was intrigued by the professional and fast-paced atmosphere of her work environment, and by the variety of projects and lawyer interactions she had on a daily basis and so I started applying for legal marketing jobs.

2. What advice would you offer to someone new to the industry?

Get involved in LMA!  It will give you countless opportunities to learn, lead, share information with industry colleagues, and make friends.  There are so many great people in this organization. At every stage of my career thus far LMA has been a key resource for me, especially as I moved from Washington, DC to San Francisco to San Diego. No matter what your learning and networking styles are, LMA has a lot to offer.

3. Why did you join LMA and is it the same reason you are still a member?

I was lucky to have the encouragement to join from my boss Nathan Darling, a former LMA president, who, needless to say, was (and still is) a huge fan of LMA. Being new to the industry, LMA gave me the opportunity to meet other legal marketers and to learn about the nuances of law firms, how other firms market, and how to build my skills. I am still a member today for the same reasons. I’ve also had the chance to get more involved through chapter board and committee positions, which has helped me learn about the organization at a deeper level. As my career and skill set have developed, LMA has always had something to offer and has always been relevant.

4. What would people be most surprised to learn about you?

I ran my ninth marathon (the Twin Cities Marathon) on October 4!

5. What is your favorite thing to do when you are not at work?

When I’m not at work, my favorite thing to do is travel. Whether it’s a road trip in California or a trip to another country, I love being on the go, exploring new places and revisiting old favorites, and getting to see family and friends in places near and far.
