The LMA Eastern Canada Region (LMAEC) is planning a full-day conference on Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at the Sheraton Centre Hotel, Toronto, Ontario. The conference is an educational and networking event for legal marketers and business development professionals as well as lawyers.

We invite proposals from knowledgeable and engaging speakers to deliver high-level educational programming to the attendees as per the submission process outlined below.
Conference attendees will be seeking information on best practices, trends, technology and industry developments from recognized leaders as well as networking opportunities with their peers and service providers.
What We Are Looking For
Our goal is to provide the best learning experience and professional development for attendees. This means we want to offer a range of programming that:
- Highlights the current trends in legal marketing and business development
- Presents knowledgeable, dynamic speakers who engage the audience
- Useful and practical takeaways, including real-life case studies
- Education relevant to multiple levels of marketing and business development professionals, from entry-level assistants to senior-level directors, CMO's and officers as well as lawyers.
- Addresses issues of small, medium and large firms
If you are interested in being considered to speak at the conference, please let us know of your interest by completing this form.
The deadline to submit is Friday, August 4, 2017.
The objective of the fall conference will be to provide learning and thought-leadership on how to adapt to, leverage, and develop profitable strategies in the current legal market place. Educational content should refresh and re-energize legal marketers and BD professionals of all levels of experience, while addressing the predominant issues, challenges, and opportunities they face daily.
We seek programs that will be relevant to an audience looking to increase value for their clients, both internally and externally. Programs should be solution-oriented, proactive in nature, and innovative, focusing on business development, marketing communications and technology as vital elements of the law firm’s business landscape.
In addition to a single speaker/lecture type session, we are also planning concurrent running breakout sessions - the proposed sessions can be structured using any of the following formats:
- Panels: two to four speakers with a moderator in a conversational format.
- Workshops: led by one or two people, highly interactive, including worksheets or other in-session activities.
- Case Studies: led by one or two people who will present, real-life examples of ideas or initiatives that were brought to fruition.
- Pechakucha: This is a Japanese presentation style in which 20 slides are shown for 20 seconds each (6 minutes and 40 seconds in total). The format, which keeps presentations concise and fast-paced, empowers multiple-presenters, and the quick, multi-media format sparks thought and action.
- Rountables: A roundtable session allows maximum interaction among presenters and with attendees. Presenters typically break the audience into groups to discuss a specific topic/idea/theme.
- TED-Style Talks: This session format is designed to have multiple presenters talk for 18 minutes or less on their topic. These presentations often have a personal narrative woven in to tie everything together. Q&A would take place at the end of all presentations.
Keep in mind this is an educational conference. The speaking opportunity should not be used to sell a product or service.
Speaking topics should include all of the body of knowledge domains taking into consideration the varying levels of attendees and target audience in the region including:.
- Entry level, junior legal marketers or those new to the industry: Core Competencies Sessions/Workshops
