Welcome 2016 Capital Chapter Members!

As we hit our strides in each new year, I suspect that many of us find ourselves slipping back into routine despite our best intentions and resolutions for the months ahead. If you are like me, it can take an extra nudge to push out, and stay out, of our comfort zones even when we know it is in our best interest. Luckily, this year, we don’t have to worry about that! The wheels of change are in motion.

While the 2016 Capital Chapter Board is determined to make this year just as fun, informative and engaging as the great year that preceded it, we are also spending a significant amount of time and energy responding to the very helpful feedback that LMA members across the country provided to our national headquarters regarding the value that membership brings. With your input as our motivator, we are embarking on a major reorganization of the LMA structure, and in 2017, we will combine forces with the Virginias Chapter to become a super Mid-Atlantic regional group! (Read more about LMA regionalization here.)

This change will provide new and greater opportunities to the many wonderful members (you!) who make up one of the strongest chapters in the current LMA structure. I hope that you’ll join us as we find ways to work more collaboratively with a broader group of dedicated legal marketers and that you’ll take every opportunity to expand your horizons through engaging this ever-growing brain trust of legal marketing know-how.

I look forward to working with this year’s Capital Chapter Board to provide avenues for such collaboration with our neighbors through programming, and in the not-too-distant future, a social gathering at the Annual Conference in Austin this April. More to come on that…

Before I let you get back to your day, I want to thank you for trusting me as your President, the last President of the Capital Chapter. I am thrilled to have this opportunity and look forward to what we can accomplish together as we embrace this era of change and step out of our comfort zones.

Cheers to a great 2016!
