Ashley Tenney, business development manager for the corporate department at McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP, describes the importance of being active in professional organizationals in Atlanta's Attorney at Law Magazine - "Women in Law" issue.
Ashley is a perfect person to write about the topic of passionate involvement in organizations for professional growth. She is very involved in the Legal Marketing Association and currently serves as the Director-Elect of City Groups for the Southeast Chapter. She also previously served as the City Group Chair for the Atlanta City Group and was the Founder and Co-Chair of Atlanta's Future Leaders Roundtable.
We are certain that our members and the legal marketing community at large will find value in her sage advice:
| "I encourage all of you reading this article to think about your organizational involvement. Are you involved in an organization? If so, are you actively involved and is it one you are passionate about? If you answer no to either of those questions, it may be time to explore what else is out there. If you are not currently involved in an organization, work with your marketing staff and/or mentors to identify the right organization for you, taking into account your interests and your career level. You are limited in your time and the payback will be greater if you make it a point to get involved in organizations you truly care about and that will provide opportunities to shape you as a person, professionally and personally. Remember less is more – you don’t need to be involved in seven to 10 organizations. Commit to one to three organizations and dedicate yourself to them, taking an active leadership role in its functions and operations." |
