ALM Legal Intelligence features LMASE President Jill Huse in its report, “Law Firm Support Staffing - Finding the Optimal Mix” published on March 24, 2014. The report highlights how law firms are restructuring their staff, both attorneys and non-attorneys alike, and examines how these staffing changes are impacting law firms.
“The trend in our industry is 1 [marketing person] to 30 [attorneys],” or 0.033, said Jill Huse, director of marketing and business development at Moore & Van Allen in Charlotte, NC and president of the southeastern chapter of the Legal Marketing Association. “I think once the recession dissipated and firms felt we were in the clear; spending started increasing and hiring unfroze. Over the last year, however, I think [the ratios have] started to contract a little bit because available positions filled up and there continues to be so much competition out there for legal work.” *
