New England Chapter Nor'Easter Newsletter - September Edition

President’s Letter

Fall is one of the best (and busiest) times of the year. We come to work after Labor Day with a renewed energy and an already full agenda. It's no wonder we are hooked on pumpkin spiced lattes to keep up! In this issue of the Nor'Easter, we take a quick look back and an exciting look ahead at our LMANE happenings.

Thank you to everyone who attended the 2nd Annual Future Leader's Boot Camp in July. Once again, we had a sold-out room packed with many fresh faces. The LMANE Board of Directors presented on a range of new topics and we ended the day with some friendly Family Feud competition and a networking reception with former LMANE Presidents. After the Boot Camp, we headed to Morton's for a gorgeous evening at the annual Summer Social, hosted by J. Johnson Executive Search.

This fall, mark your calendars for two hallmark events. We are thrilled to be hosting a lunch program on October 27th at Suffolk University. The Dean of Suffolk Law School, Andrew Perlman, will present on "Using Technology Competence to Strengthen Client Service." Dean Perlman is a founding director of Suffolk Law School's Institute on Law Practice Technology and Innovation and is a nationally recognized voice on the future of legal education and law practice. He will discuss how law firms can leverage technology to more effectively meet client needs and strengthen a firm's approach to client service.

Also this fall, we will be hosting our annual LMA New England Regional Conference on November 12-13th. The event begins Thursday evening with an executive-level discussion on managing crisis communications, followed by a keynote address on Friday by Adam Grossman, Senior Vice President of Brand Development & Marketing for the Boston Red Sox. If you have not yet registered for the conference, act fast. The early bird rate expires on October 13th. Need more convincing? Click here to watch this year's conference promo video. What's your wow factor?

I hope to see you soon. In the meantime, keep powering through with those pumpkin spiced lattes.

Cheers!

Shelley Swanson

2015 LMANE Chapter President

October Program:

Using Technology Competence to Strengthen Client Service
Featuring Andrew Perlman, Dean of Suffolk University Law School

October 27th | 12:00-1:30 p.m.
Suffolk University Law School | Function Room, 1st Floor | 120 Tremont Street
Register Now!

Technological competence is increasingly essential. The ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct were recently amended to emphasize that a lawyer’s duty of competence includes the duty to keep abreast of relevant technology. Moreover, the proper use of technology tools and software can make legal services better, faster, and cheaper, while improving a law firm’s relationships with its clients.

During this luncheon program, Suffolk University Law School Dean Andrew Perlman will provide an overview of the interrelationship of technology, client service, and the business of legal practice. You will learn how lawyers can leverage technology to more effectively meet client needs and demands. He will paint a picture of the evolving legal marketplace, offer a preview of where it may be going, and recommend how lawyers and law firms can more effectively compete for business in the 21st century.
