Many of you had the chance to mingle with our 2015 Board of Directors during our Winter Social and Meet the Board Event at Oak + Char in Chicago (click here to see photos from the event). For those of you who weren’t able to make it, we’d like to introduce the talented, fun superstars who are helping to make 2015 another successful year for LMA Midwest. [View Part 1] [View Part 3]

I am just completing my year as president of the LMA Midwest Chapter. It has been a very rewarding experience for me and I truly enjoyed working with our board and other chapter volunteers throughout the year. I look forward to my role as immediate past president of the chapter and the responsibilities associated with this position.

My wife and I got our children into competitive swimming at an early age and were part of that sport for 10 years. We spent several weekends at aquatic centers around Michigan watching our children compete. We were also active volunteers with our swim club called the Macomb YMCA Marlins. We felt that it was better to volunteer to handle apparel sales or concessions or awards, etc. instead of sitting in the hot pool area waiting for our children to swim their event. We always thought it was funny that we would spend 8 hours at a meet only to watch our children swim a total of 8 minutes for their combined events. As my children have grown up and moved on from the sport I miss that time watching them compete.

Speaking of my children, my daughter is 21 and works at Bodman, a large law firm in Detroit. She is attending college in the evening and looking to go into social work. My son is 17 and will graduate from high school this year. He plans to attend community college and then decide what he would like to do with his future. As I look back at my amazing children I wonder where the time has gone. In a blink of an eye they have grown up and I am very proud of what they have become.

Kightlinger & Gray, LLP (Indianapolis)

A graduate of Miami University, I have been working in professional services marketing for 13 years - the last seven of which have been spent in legal marketing. I just recently joined a new firm, Plews Shadley Racher & Braun, LLP, and serve as their marketing director. I have been a member of LMA since I started in legal marketing and served as a city group co-chair for two years before joining the LMA Midwest Board in 2014. My husband and I are fortunate to have two very funny little boys, ages 5 and 3. Not adventurous by nature, I am adjusting to their constant need to climb (high), jump (from the heights they climb), and wrestle (each other). That being said, I earned a bit of hero status with my boys when I rode four laps around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in a two-seat Indy Car with a professional driver who had a lead foot. While exciting, I now only race around the track at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the Indianapolis Mini Marathon I run each spring.

Do you have children? Tell us about them!

With two boys, (now young men -Dan, age 24, Ryan age 19), I have spent many hours, days, and weekends on the sidelines of the soccer field or the stands of the baseball diamond and wouldn’t have been anywhere else. Time moves quickly, and now I am the Mother of the Groom.  Our oldest Dan, a ’13 BSBA graduate and All-American soccer player from Rockhurst University in Kansas City is engaged to be married on April 23, 2016.  Ryan is our youngest and is a freshman in the honors college at Missouri State University and a member of Theta Chi.  Chuck and I will be married 30 years this May.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A legal marketing professional! (22 years in March).  Seriously, a kindergarten teacher or flower shop owner!

What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?

White water raft the Colorado River. Well, the boys said it was more like a slow float trip!

Apart from legal marketing prowess, what other skills or hobbies do you have?

I love photography, an interest encouraged by my wonderful grandpa with a gift of an SLR at college graduation. My family loves that I constantly have a camera in my hand!

What is your favorite restaurant and/or cuisine?

Probably Italian. I love a local family restaurant, Babbo’s.

What is fun fact that few people know about you?

I trout fish, and so does my future daughter in law. It’s a great family outing.
