Dear LMA-LA members:
With the announced Regionalization, there are more opportunities than ever before to get involved! As heard from LMA last week, we are seeking nominations for the newly created West Regional Governing Board positions. In addition to the Regional Governing Board, we will also have a Local Steering Committee for the Los Angeles area.
Eligible members are invited to express their interest in serving on either the Regional Governing Board or the Local Steering Committee (i.e., self-nominate) or to submit the name of an eligible colleague or peer by using the instructions in this letter and its attachments.
We are looking for members who will bring strategic thinking, creativity and passion to the planning and implementation of key initiatives that will help advance the new West Region.
To be eligible, a candidate must be a member in good standing and a member of LMA for at least one year.
The Local Steering Committee term will begin on January 1, 2017. Vacant positions on the Local Steering Committee include:
- Chair (2-year commitment)
- Vice Chair (3-year commitment)
- Secretary (1-year commitment)
- Member-at-Large / Ex-Officio (1-year commitment)
- Member-at-Large
To begin the self-nomination process, or to submit the name of a colleague or peer, please complete the Expression of Interest Form and return it to 2017 LMA-LA Steering Committee Chair, Mary Stone, mary.stone@akingump.com by 6:00 p.m. (PDT) on Friday, May 27, 2016.
Vacant positions on the Regional Governing Board include:
- Immediate Past President (1-year commitment: Open to persons who have previously served as Chapter President in 2015 or before)
- President (2-year commitment: President in 2017, Immediate Past President in 2018)
- President-Elect (3-year commitment: President-Elect in 2017, President in 2018, Immediate Past President in 2019)
- Secretary (2-year commitment)
- Treasurer (1-year commitment)
- Treasurer-Elect (2-year commitment: Treasurer-Elect in 2017, Treasurer in 2018)
- Five Directors (2-year commitment, except in 2017, two of the five will serve one-year terms)
Please note that for this transition year, Regional Governing Board positions will begin service on September 1, 2016, so each term will include an additional four months (that is, a "1-year commitment" as listed below will actually be 1 year and 4 months).
To begin the Regional Governing Board nominating process, please review the Regional Eligibility Criteria. If you satisfy the criteria for this nomination, then complete the Regional Expression of Interest Form. Expressions of Interest for Regional Governing Board positions must be submitted by 12:00 p.m. (CST) on Friday, May 20, 2016.
