While the 1950s rockabilly classic song lamented that “…there ain’t no cure for the summertime blues”, I declare that those blues can be cured by seizing the day and taking advantage of all that the Capital Chapter has to offer.
It seems hard to believe we are already more than half way through the year. Where has the time gone?
With fall fast approaching, don’t succumb to those summertime blues. Our Committees, City Group, Roundtables and SIGs have been working hard to develop thought provoking programs for you. The Capital Chapter of LMA has a cornucopia of wonderful events to help fill your calendars and provide the motivational nourishment for your professional development.
Many of these exciting programs are already listed on the Capital Chapter’s Event Calendar. Check it out.
This fall, we are hosting the 4th Annual Your Honor Awards to recognize Chapter members who have made significant contributions to our industry in four categories 1) The Big Idea, 2) Capital Engagement, 3) Member of the Year and 4) The Hall of Fame. I hope you will submit an entry on behalf of your firm or a colleague before the September 20th deadline. Please contact Liz Gooch if you have any questions about the submission process.
Also, you should have received your ballots to vote for the 2014 leadership of the chapter and the International association. Let your voice be heard. Only through the active participation of our members can we truly make the Capital Chapter work for you.
That is why I cannot encourage you enough to get involved and be a part of our success. Attend a program, meet a member for coffee or join a committee. Seize the day and take this glorious opportunity to network with industry leaders and learn about critical trends that you can bring back to your office.
