Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager (“BDM”) role is a newly created position at L&A which requires a diverse skill set to manage and implement a wide range of responsibilities.  The BDM will work with the firm’s Marketing Committee (the “Committee”) to develop and execute both internal and external communications strategies to support the firm’s brand and strategic priorities.   A primary focus will be to work with L&A’s legal staff to enhance client development and new business generation efforts, development of marketing plans, and execution tactics.  In addition, the BDM will be responsible for print media placements, as well as creating, revising and maintaining L&A’s marketing collateral – including print, web, and social – to accomplish these goals.

Responsibilities: 

Provide general editing and proofreading of all marketing collateral content in multiple communication channels including print materials, website materials (such as attorney bios, and client advisories), social media, and PR/media placements.

Coordinate with and assist practice groups, client teams, and individual attorneys with marketing initiatives including creation and execution of business development plans; responses to requests for proposals; and client presentations, seminars and events (including post event follow up).

Collaborate regarding press releases, article placement and attorney PR support as approved by the Committee.

Work with legal staff to develop and execute business development plans; identify and evaluate new business opportunities.   Contribute to other duties, tasks and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 5 + years of professional services marketing experience (legal industry preferred);
  • Excellent writing and editing capabilities with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong computer and Internet skills including advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Outlook, all major social media outlets, and on-line research.
  • Demonstrated project management and follow-up skills with a strong client service orientation.
  • Ability to maintain poise, tact and professionalism when interacting with internal and external contacts.
  • Flexibility in work-hours with some evening and weekend work to support and coordinate events.
