Title: PR + Communications Specialist
Firm: Kegler Brown Hill + Ritter
Education: The Ohio State University; B.A. in Strategic Communication
Where did you grow up? Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio
What was your first job? I was a fountain girl at Friendly's — scooped and served ice cream.
What would you be doing if you weren't in your current job? I'm very fortunate to have found a career I love but if I weren’t in communications, I would be a veterinarian.
What is currently on your iPod? Sam Smith; Justin Timberlake; Beyonce; Ed Sheeran
Where is your favorite place to go to relax? I take my dog on the Olentangy Trail and we walk for a few miles. You feel as if you are far from
the city when in reality it's right off 315.
What is your favorite TV show? Favorite movie? I am a "Scandal" addict — great plot that continues to surprise viewers. For movies, "Sleepless in Seattle" has always had my heart.
What is your favorite cuisine? Sushi! I could eat it every day.
If you were stranded on a desert island, who or what would you want to have with you? If I were stranded on an island, I would want access to an unlimited supply of books, a large hat for shade and copious amounts of ice cream.
Who are the most important people in your life? My mother has served as a wonderful role model, both in my personal life and in my career. She is a flawless example of a woman who balanced family and work life, and without her guidance I would not be where I am today.
What is the first thing you read in the morning? My emails. Don't we all?!
How did you get into legal marketing? I was searching for a position that fit my experience but also allowed me to grow as a young professional. Kegler Brown just happened to be that right fit and I certainly don't regret being part of the legal marketing industry.
What is the best thing about your job? I'm going to go with two things: my team and that no two days are the same. It's a crucial component of any job that you enjoy and communicate well with your coworkers. I'm fortunate enough to truly love working with my team and be able to produce quality work for our firm. And the second part — no two days are the same — is important because it keeps me on my toes and I continuously grow as a professional because of it.
What advice would you offer a new entrant to the world of legal marketing? Be a sponge. Learn all that you can from your peers, coworkers and attorneys about the industry, and push yourself to learn outside of the office as well.
