Title: Interactive Marketing Manager

Firm: Benesch

Education: B.S. in Communications from Ohio University; M.S. in Marketing and Communications from Franklin University

Where did you grow up? Batavia, OH (about half an hour east of Cincinnati)

What was your first job? I was a birthday party hostess at Chuck E. Cheese. My days were spent dancing to the YMCA and Jackson 5, leading kids in birthday parades, decorating birthday cakes, serving pizza…and even dressing up in the mouse costume. I loved my job!

What would you be doing if you weren't in your current job? I have always wanted to open my own travel agency.

What is currently on your iPod? I like almost any kind of music, but I especially love 90’s boy bands and 80’s pop. I also like MGMT, Incubus, Steve Miller Band, Kanye West, Stevie Wonder and Tom Petty.

Where is your favorite place to go to relax? I enjoy going for a walk/run in the metropark near my house. The walking trail is right next to the Rocky River and it’s very serene.

What is your favorite TV show? Favorite movie? Favorite TV shows: Project Runway, No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain and The Bachelor/Bachelorette (yes, shameful, I know!)

Favorite movies: American Beauty, The Wedding Singer and Little Miss Sunshine.

What is your favorite cuisine? Indian, Italian and Thai food. Skyline Chili in Cincinnati. I also have a serious addiction to mint chocolate chip ice cream.

If you were stranded on a desert island, who or what would you want to have with you? Margaritas, a comfy chair for lounging in on the beach, a camera, a boombox, a good book and my husband.

Who are the most important people in your life? My husband, Greg, and son, Calvin (six months). My parents and brother. My closest friends, especially my girlfriends from my college days at OU. And my two orange kitties, Logi and Gulliver.

What is the first thing you read in the morning? My email, followed by my Facebook newsfeed. You know, important stuff.

How did you get into legal marketing? I was in the process of moving to Cleveland shortly after college graduation (many years ago) and a marketing assistant position was available at Benesch. I was looking for an entry-level marketing position but had never considered the idea that such a thing existed in the legal industry. I applied for the job on a whim and the rest is history.

What is the best thing about your job? Many things: the smart and talented women I work with in my department, who I also have the pleasure of calling my friends; the opportunity to be creative and work on interesting projects; the feeling that I am helping to contribute to the overall goals, mission and success of my firm; and the fact that I’m always kept on my toes and there’s never a boring day.

What advice would you offer a new entrant to the world of legal marketing? Be open-minded and be willing to get involved with whatever projects may come your way. Legal marketing is an ever-changing field. It’s good to be adaptable and able to go with the flow. Set goals for yourself and stick to them. Most importantly, believe in your abilities and make yourself a valuable contributor at your firm.
