Legal Marketing Association Leads Audience Through A Crisis Communications Simulation

PHILADELPHIA, PA— While it may be true that good news travels fast, sometimes bad news travels faster. So, the question becomes “what can individual lawyers and their firms do to handle a media communications crisis?”

On December 2, 2010, the Legal Marketing Association Metropolitan Philadelphia Chapter (LMA MPC) will host “Crisis Communications Under Pressure: An Interactive Crisis,” an educational program that will take the audience through the steps of a crisis, including how to deal with the crisis at various stages, the role of the in-house professionals, and the fundamental “do’s” and “don’ts.”

In advance of the program, attendees will receive newspaper stories detailing an imaginary crisis and scandal, in which local members of the Legal Marketing Association play significant parts (strictly fictional, of course). “Lawyer” Richard Alonso looks bad; his law firm looks bad; authorities around the Tuscaloosa locale of the crisis have a lot to say – and a lot to lose. The audience members will be divided into teams – some for Alonso, some for his law firm, and some as the press, officials, and other “players,” – and there will be a live-action give-and-take about how the crisis plays out. The program mediators and guides will be Joshua M. Peck, media relations guru and Senior Media Relations Manager at Duane Morris, and Jeff Jubelirer, Principal at Jubelirer Strategies, an accomplished crisis management and public relations provider well-known throughout the Philadelphia political and business scene.

The program will be held from 12 noon-1:30 p.m. at Table 31, Comcast Center, 1701 JFK Blvd. in Philadelphia, PA. The cost of attending the event is $10 for members of the LMA MPC and $25 for non-members (if registered by noon, Wednesday, December 1, 2010), and the cost will be $20 for members and $40 for non-members if registering at the door. If you are interested in attending, please contact Shellee Buchanan at buchanans@ballardspahr.comor (215) 864-8755.  You can also register online athttp://www.legalmarketing.org/metrophilly
