Gathering answers to arcane questions in a tight time frame is hard enough without having to worry about how it all reads. Every document you create is a reflection of the firm, including the 500-character limit response to Specification 6.a.2 on the third tab of Exhibit B.

Effective messaging for proposals and RFP responses must be concise and address the client from their point of view.

Working in small groups and using a sample client case study, attendees will learn how to tailor proposal and RFP responses to ensure that their best efforts get read.

Topics include:

  • Quick competitive intelligence
  • Reading from the right perspective
  • Making the client the main character
  • Finding affinities across industries
  • Keeping it short and sweet (or, at least, making it look that way)

Attendees will also learn:

  • How to assess what matters to a potential client using the client’s own materials and third-party resources
  • How to take advantage of the questions period during the RFP process
  • How appreciating the client’s perspective can affect how you respond to their questions
  • How to divide a piece of text to make its message clearer

Panelists:

Frank Cipparone, Global Pitch and Proposal Manager, Dechert LLP

Working collaboratively with Dechert attorneys, marketing and other firmwide departments, Frank Cipparone manages and develops complex, strategic proposals for key client opportunities. Before joining Dechert, Frank spent 14 years at Aramark, a Fortune 500 company headquartered in Philadelphia, serving in progressive proposal roles, most recently as Proposal Content Manager. His proposal experience includes: developing pursuit strategies for winning important sales opportunities; writing and editing executive summaries and nonstandard sections of proposals; developing proposal themes (encompassing written content, design, presentation and delivery); and overseeing a content library (including working with subject matter experts on improving content and managing internal processes for updating that content).
